E.H. Gerrish - SOLD!
Up for sale is a recently acquired 16ft closed gunwale Gerrish canoe. A couple interesting features I've found with this canoe is first, the center thwart was made to be removed on the canoe. The pockets located below the inwale are copper riveted through the ribs and planking. Second, I'm pretty sure the decks are not the standard Chestnut but I believe them to be the prettier quarter sawn White Oak. Unfortunately the seats and thwarts were missing along its life and have been replaced by Charles River builders. If I had to guess the canoe was from a livery along the Charles at one point in its life with the deck numbers and the mis-matched seats and thwarts. The hull is in fantastic shape with no breaks or bulges visible. The canoe has been 1/2” stripped by the previous owner who ran short on time. If purchased I can assist in reproducing any original missing parts. Don't hesitate to ask questions! Zack
